Our CIT’s 2008 & Leadership Camp

Each year we select 4 lucky MSG alumni, who are 16 or soon to be juniors, to attend our leadership program.  A week before our summer camp session, the directors facilitate a leadership training while on a surf safari in Maui’s east shore rain forest.  The girls do journaling and experiential activities that get them in touch with the authentic leader within them.   After the week of adventuring Hana’s waterfalls, bamboo forest, surf breaks, and training with the MSG staff, they put their skills to practice at camp.  Second year CIT’s are in charge of a cabin of 5 girls, and a first year CIT.  On top of taking care of campers at camp, they are assisting surf instructors in the line-up during the surf lessons.  Our CIT’s are the instigators of a lot of silly camp antics, participating in staff skits and around camp programming like spa night and fashion faux-pas.  They keep the MSG traditions alive and well each year!

This years CIT’s were AMAZING!  Gaby Barsotti of Seal Beach, California and Nicole Nakamura from Chicago, Illinois were our second year CIT’s and have attended ten MSG programs combined since they first attended as fourteen year olds!  Then we had Jasmine Haskell from Trinidad and Maeve Cook-Deegan from Charlotte, North Carolina, who have been MSG core for many years now too.

If you’ve ever attend a MSG camp and are sixteen or older, please contact us about being a 2009 CIT.  Perks include 50% off tuition, our weeklong leadership program, and leadership skills for a lifetime.  Contact Dustin at [email protected].
