Meet Lucy Woodward – Maui Surfer Girls November Instructor of the Month
Meet Lucy!Lucy has been at MSG almost as long as our camp has been in existence – since she was 14! She knows our surf camp inside and out, from being a camper, camp staff, surf instructor and now assistant director.
In November, she served as the assistant director for our Fall Women’s Surf Camp, as well as a full-time surf instructor.
Lucy’s humorous and goofy personality mixed with her adventurous spirit really lets campers and students feel at ease, while being excited to try something new!
Lucy grew up in and around the ocean near SouthHampton, NY. Lucy is also a graduate of Prescott College, majoring in Environmental studies & marine conservation.

“I highly recommend Maui Surfer Girls! I took a private lesson with Lucy and she was fantastic. I had surfed a couple times before but felt so much more in tune with myself after this lesson! I was able to change my mindset from “stand up quickly” to “take my time and stand up with grace and balance” (especially on a longboard). I was able to stand up on almost every wave I went for! Lucy goes above and beyond for her students!“Last year my daughter had a lesson with Lucy and we were lucky enough to have her as an instructor again. This year I brought my niece who has never surfed. It was more than great. Lucy recognized the different skill level of my girls and had my daughter paddling into her own waves while working a little more with my niece. Crystal took amazing pictures as always. I this time actually decided to try and paddle board. With anxieties of the ocean Kelly was the most attentive and informative instructor and I actually had a great time. I felt like I was with a friend not someone I had just met.
