Yesterday Maui Surfer Girls helped support a women’s stand up paddling event in Wailea, by donating two free surf lessons to their raffle. There were over 300 women participating in this free event of stand up paddle instruction and a coastline tour, as well as yoga, hula, nutrition and workout exercises to build healthy and strong girls and women. They had women breast cancer survivors attend and speak about their fight against breast cancer. It was very inspiring!
Surprisingly, Maui had a high surf advisory on the Northwest shore that wrapped into Wailea Beach. We had about four foot shore pound to negotiate with our big stand up boards. Needless to say, the organizers were very organized and escorted the beginners boards through the shorebreak to get them safely to the outside. I’ve attached a shot of the big beachbreak that morning!
